During his time with the Tigers, Leyland returned the Tigers to relevancy after some dismal seasons and brought them to two World Series. This is another instance of being in the right place at the right time. I went down to the dugout after a game against the Minnesota Twins and Jim Leyland happened to be talking with some family members before retreating to the dugout. He was nice enough to sign my baseball and take some time to chat with me personally. It was a very nice gesture from one of the best coaches in the MLB at the time.
